Middlebury Carnival and rescheduled Dartmouth SL

The Middlebury Carnival started off with slalom on Friday, a nice departure from the usual carnival schedule.

Slalom
Anne Rockwell '14 was the star of the day. Sitting 8th after first run, Anne put down the 4th fastest second run in rough deteriorating conditions to move up to 4th overall.  Unfortunately it was a rough day for the rest of the women as Avril Dunleavy, Katie Fitzpatrick, Emily Hayes and Zoe Livingston were all first run DNFs. Emily Bamford was our second and only other finisher in 19th.

The men had an even tougher day as Tanner Dirstine was our only finisher 31st.

GS

Avril Dunleavy '15 led the women finishing 9th, her second Top-10 of the year in GS. Katie Fitzpatrick was 22nd and Anne Rockwell had her second best GS finish of her career in 25th.

It was another tough day for the guys as Chris Bradbury was our only qualifier for the second run. A huge mistake and a great recovery left him in 43rd overall.

Dartmouth SL Makeup race

The SL cancelled from the previous weekend was rescheduled for the Sunday after Middlebury. Once again we were hit by high winds and cold temps.  As a result the lifts were closed and the athletes were towed behind a snowcat for their inspection and race runs.

Women

The day started off well for the ladies with Avril 6th, Anne 10th, Katie 20th and Emily Bamford 22nd after run one.  On run two Avril slipped back a couple spots to finish 9th, continuing her streak of finishing in the top 10 in every race she's finished. Anne was a 2nd run DNF, while Katie and Emily moved up to 17th and 18th respectively. Zoe Livingston and Emily Hayes finished close behind in 21st and 24th.

Men

The struggles for the men continued as Tanner Dirstine was our only finisher in 44th.
